Charlene was born in Hermanus and worked professionally as a draughtswoman in Cape Town, Kimberley and Johannesburg.

Wherever she resided, she attended workshops, joined art groups etc. to develop her talents in painting and ceramic sculpture. She also worked for two well-known fashion designers, hand painting and doing unique metal work on their high fashion garments.

As an artist, Charlene is experimental and versatile by nature and approaches each blank canvas as a new experience.
Her work ranges from contemporary to representational. Subject matter includes still life, abstract, people and nudes, but invariably people are her first love.

Her paintings have been displayed at many group exhibitions and galleries in Hermanus and Cape Town, she also had ceramic sculptures on display in Johannesburg.
Her work has been taken up in private collections, both locally and abroad.
